Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
1. About This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Tipelodeon ("Tipelodeon," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, our mobile applications, our embeddable widgets, and any related features (together, the "Service").
Tipelodeon is a platform that lets performers accept tipped song requests from their audience, manage charts and setlists, and run live performances. This policy applies both to performers who hold accounts with us and to audience members who interact with a performer through the Service.
2. Information Performers Provide
When you create a performer account, you give us:
- Account credentials: name, email address, and password.
- Profile information: performer name shown to your audience, optional bio, location and venue details, social links, photos, and artwork you upload.
- Repertoire and performance content: songs, chart files (including PDFs), lyric sheets, setlists, notes, and other content you store with us.
- Payout information: when you onboard to receive tips, you complete identity, tax, and banking verification directly with our payment processor. We receive a payout account identifier and limited verification status, not your full banking or tax-identification details.
- Communications: the content of messages you send us through the contact form, by email, or through in-app support.
3. Information Audience Members Provide
You do not need a Tipelodeon account to request a song or send a tip. When you interact with a performer's page or our app as an audience member, we collect:
- Audience profile information: a display name or pseudonym you choose, and optionally a profile photo or avatar. We associate your activity with this profile so the performer can recognize repeat audience members.
- Requests and tips: the songs you request, the amounts you tip, any message you include, and the time and venue of the performance.
- Payment information: when you tip digitally, you enter your card details directly with our payment processor. We receive a transaction record (amount, currency, last four digits of the card, and a processor identifier), not your full card number.
Cash tips logged by a performer record only the amount and an optional audience profile attribution; no payment information is collected by us.
4. Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Service, we and our service providers automatically collect:
- Device and connection data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, language preference, and time zone.
- Usage data: pages and screens viewed, features used, requests submitted, tips sent, performance interactions, and timestamps.
- Diagnostic data: error reports, crash logs, and performance traces that help us debug and improve the Service.
- Cookies and similar technologies: a small number of cookies and local-storage entries that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in, secure forms against cross-site request forgery, and preserve UI preferences such as dark mode. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
You can configure your browser to reject cookies, but parts of the Service that require sign-in or session continuity will not work.
5. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate the request queue, tipping, setlist, and performance features of the Service;
- create and authenticate accounts and audience profiles;
- process tips and disburse payouts to performers;
- generate setlists, performance recaps, lyric sheets, chart metadata, and other AI-assisted outputs you request;
- send transactional emails, receipts, payout notices, and service announcements;
- provide customer support and respond to your inquiries;
- detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms;
- measure storage, bandwidth, and AI usage to monitor reliability and enforce fair-use limits; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
Where required by law, we process this information based on your consent, the performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving a reliable service, or our legal obligations.
6. Payment Processing and Payouts
Tips and payouts on Tipelodeon are processed by Stripe, Inc. and its affiliates. When you send a digital tip, your payment information goes directly to Stripe; we receive only the transaction metadata described in Section 3. When a performer onboards to receive payouts, Stripe collects the identity, banking, and tax information required for its Connect program.
Stripe acts as an independent controller of the personal information it collects from you. Your interactions with Stripe are governed by Stripe's own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.
Audience members pay a flat platform fee on top of each digital tip; the performer receives the full tip amount. Tips are credited to the performer at the moment of the request, independent of whether the song is later performed.
7. AI Processing of Charts and Performance Content
Some Tipelodeon features rely on third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic, Google (Gemini), and OpenAI) to help with:
- identifying songs in uploaded chart PDFs and images;
- extracting chord and lyric text from chart files;
- enriching song metadata and rendering chart images;
- suggesting setlists and generating performance recaps and chat responses;
- producing venue and audience insights from your own performance history; and
- flagging integrity issues such as duplicate or low-quality charts.
When we use these providers, we send the minimum content required to perform the operation (for example, a chart image or a list of your song titles). We do not send audience payment information, audience contact details, or performer banking details to AI providers. Our agreements with these providers prohibit them from using your content to train general-purpose models.
8. Service Providers and International Transfers
We use vendors to operate the Service, including:
- Stripe: payments, payouts, and identity verification.
- Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI: the AI processing described in Section 7.
- Amazon Web Services, Postmark, and Resend: hosting and transactional email delivery.
- Sentry: error monitoring and crash reporting.
- Google (YouTube Data and Places APIs): song matching and venue lookup.
Vendors only receive the information they need to perform their function and are contractually required to protect it. Some of these providers operate in the United States or other countries outside your country of residence. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers.
9. How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only:
- With the performer you interact with when you tip or request a song. Performers see your audience profile, your request and tip history at their shows, and any message you include.
- With our service providers, as described in Section 8.
- For legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or is necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor the commitments in this policy.
10. Public Pages and Embeds
Each performer has a public project page that lists their repertoire and lets audience members send requests. Performers may also embed all or part of this page on their own website using our embed widget. Content a performer marks as public (including performer name, repertoire, photos, and public messaging) is visible to anyone with the link or who visits a page where the widget is embedded.
Audience tipping and request activity is not displayed publicly. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics (for example, the count of tips during a session) may appear in the performer's view and in performance recaps.
11. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and for the period reasonably necessary to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations (including the tax and accounting laws that apply to payment platforms), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted to retain it, for example, transaction and payout records required for financial compliance.
To control storage costs after extended inactivity, we may archive derived files such as AI-generated chart renders while keeping source uploads and the metadata required to regenerate them on demand. We will give you notice before any archival that affects your access.
12. Data Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encryption in transit, encrypted storage of credentials, access controls, audit logging, and ongoing monitoring for unusual activity.
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a security incident that materially affects your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.
13. Your Privacy Rights
Subject to local law, you may have the right to:
- access and receive a copy of your personal information;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your personal information;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your personal information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where we rely on consent; and
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise these rights, contact us through our contact form . We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we may decline a request that is excessive or unfounded as the law permits. You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, you have the rights listed above and the additional rights to know the categories of personal information we collect and disclose, to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and to limit the use of "sensitive personal information." We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require an opt-out.
EEA, UK, and Swiss residents. Under the GDPR and equivalent laws, our legal bases for processing are described in Section 5. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Where we transfer personal information outside the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses, as appropriate.
14. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have collected information from a child under that age, please contact us and we will delete it.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If the changes are material, we will provide additional notice (for example, by email to performers or by an in-app notice) before the changes take effect.
